My way
Identity hybridizations, exoticism, and power relations are some of the issues to reflect on in my artistic work. My practice is born from a current decolonial perspective, a largely anti-military reflection on neocolonialism and its persistent forms of symbolic, cultural, and political domination.
I create images that blend the sacred with the violent; this allows me to challenge hegemonic discourses about the body, identity, and belonging. Within an environment of social issues that I am trying to better understand, I believe that art remains a tool for activism, which aims to break away from hierarchies of knowledge to enable other forms of creative existence.
Although I'm interested in experimenting with different languages and media—such as installation, collage, tattooing, and photography—drawing and painting constitute the most academic core of my training and remain essential to my work.
