VLADIMIR RENDEROS

Dibujos espirituales
Drawing is my most spiritual way of inhabiting the world. It is through drawing that my ideas take shape before they are structured; everything begins as a sketch. The series “Spiritual Drawings” is built on naturally aged sheets of paper, salvaged from old books. On them, I discover the beauty of the ephemeral and the fragile, an aesthetic value revealed on their surface.
Their tones—warm, wood-like, almost golden—remind me of the texture and color of human skin. This affinity between paper and skin has opened a new creative path for me, awakening a deep interest in the art of tattooing.
The content of my works explores an imagery that could be described as a “religious” neo-syncretism: a blend of the sacred with the banal, the violent, and the everyday. I present scenes charged with contrasts, where traditional figures—the cross and the sword (religion and militarism)—are inserted into contexts that allude both to colonial history and to contemporary wars.
