VLADIMIR RENDEROS

"A imagen y semejanza"
In english "In the image and likeness", the title, taken from Genesis, evokes the paradox of the creator reflected in his work. In this series, I let the clay speak for me; a material that connects me to my place of origin (the hill of Guazapa), a town with an ancient pottery tradition, marked by the scars of a past Salvadoran civil war and by a militarism that still persists.
Giving shape to clay is also shaping my history, where I try to understand myself, to bear witness to the cynicism of international interventions and the arms trade. I seek to open a dialogue between past and present, between inherited violence and the search for meaning. Manifesting themselves as footprints on the walls that silently observe and listen, witnesses to a constant transit of bodies and gazes.
Each of the ceramic projectiles was made from molds taken from real objects, creating compositions that are articulated as points and lines, light and shadow: a visual language that ranges from the individual to the collective, where each munition is, at once, human, victim, and victimizer.
